PHYSICS RESEARCH LABORATORY REPORT: VELOCITY OF APPEAR

Purpose:

In this lab, we will be doing a few major things: 1) Collecting and organising data to have resonant points in a shut pipe, 2) measure the period of a closed-pipe resonator, and 3) assess the data to determine the speed of sound.

Process:

1 . Fill the graduated cylinder nearly for the top with drinking water, with a high glass pipe open for both ends (the level with act as the shut down end). 2 . Determine the room's atmosphere temperature, and in addition measure the diameter of the cup tube. Record the data. a few. Select a fine-tuning fork and record the frequency (in Hz) in the data table. Record the info. 4. Reach the fine tuning fork against a plastic stopper, and hold it just above the opening of the a glass tube. Raise or decrease the cup tube/fork before the loudest sound is observed. 5. Once you hear the loudest resonation, hold the tube in place. Measure the distance from the water level, towards the top of the glass tube. Record the data. six. Repeat Methods 3-5.
